Zihuatanejo, Mexico is a place along the Mexican coast where there are many hotels and resorts. People love to go here to vacation and spend a little down time. I know that the last thing anyone would like to see while on vacation at a beautiful beach is sharks in the water. And if that is the case, no one would want to see any shark attacks.

However, those that visit Zihuatanejo, Mexico and enjoy the lush beaches are alarmed for this very reason. Why exactly do sharks attack? I have read that sharks do not especially like the taste of human flesh. It is said that sharks actually prefer to eat what is normally abundant in the waters that they reside in…fish!

For those of you not familiar with the latest news concerning Zihuatanejo, Mexico, I will brief you on it. Within the past month, there have been not one or two, but three shark attacks off of the waters of Zihuatanejo, Mexico.

Sadly, two of the three shark attacks in Zihuatanejo, Mexico were fatal. From what I have read, all shark attacks were done on surfers. This is a surely a tragedy. The sole surfer who survived the shark attack that he underwent in Zihuatanejo, Mexico survived with just a few large cuts and gashes. This is a very terrible ordeal to go through and I am in no way playing it down. It is just a very fortunate thing for him to get out of the water alive.

The Hotels & Resorts in Zihuatanejo, Mexico

As I begun to mention before, the shark attacks in Zihuatanejo, Mexico may scare tourists away from this beautiful vacation. People have been speculating as to whether or not this will affect the tourism industry in Zihuatanejo. This is certainly a valid concern as many shark attacks prove to be fatal as did 2 of the 3 here. It was reported that prior to these shark attacks that happened within the past month, there really wasn’t any other reports of sharks seen in the waters of Zihuatanejo.

Shark attacks happen for different reasons, and sometimes the reason for shark attacks even puzzles the most highly regarded scientists. I have not read any news of what scientists say about the reason for the shark attacks in Zihuatanejo, Mexico.

Sharks are creatures of the sea that surely are to be respected. They are very fascinating, but many have unfounded fears of sharks because they do not have knowledge of what kind of creatures they really are.

So, hopefully these shark attacks will not affect the tourism industry and local businesses in Zihuatanejo, Mexico.

I hear it’s a lovely part of the world, but I must say I’m in no hurry to ga and visit it right now! I’m old school that way … I still remember seeing the trailer for Jaws!

Well, if I were planning a vacation in Zihuatanejo Mexico and the plans were already made, I would not change my vacation plans just because of this news. I would be very cautious of going in the water, and would not let my family go surfing for the time being.

Even if the shark attacks do affect the tourism in Zihuatanejo, I think this will eventually subside as long as the shark attacks to not happen even more consistently.

Thank you for your thoughts Tuppy! =)
