When you release 2.40 can you make sure that it has incremental secondary updates, and/or make it so you don’t have to have the newest release of firmware to play online, because it seems that everytime i go online that i have to download a new update and its etting annoying.

You need to update to access the playstation network. Friends, high scores, gold ducks, eye conferencing. Not updating a connected PS3 is silly - you are really forced to update in lockstep.

Really don’t get your point, if you update to 2.36 it doesn’t mean you can’t update to 2.40 when it comes out. So you might aswell get the latest version when it comes out because it’s always an improvement no matter how little. Oh and version 2.40 IS going to include in-game XMB

there is nothing to different, I just got MGS4 and i did’nt see any difference in run time… not to say that the way it already looks isnt good but who isnt looking forward to update 3.4. Dont download 3.36 firmware but not because it’s bad, but because its just useless..

Thanks for mentioning the PS3 2.36 update, I wasn’t even aware it was available. I have to admit I haven’t played with my Playstation 3 very much since I got a Wii.

I’ve just updated to 2.36 and im having no problems with any of my games so far. To be honest you’ll proberly find the system stability is mainly with the older games that were first released. all i’ll complain about really is that you dont get the “whats going to be installed” information like you do when you update your psp

I am really glad theat the Playstation 3 update 2.36 is out. I was relly wondering when they were going to fix all those buggy issues. i didn’t want to have to wait for playstation 3 update4 to come out i really think that the playstation 3 update 2.36 is going to fix some of the issues i have been having.

I really like Rock Band as well. I think the graphics for rock Band are better on PS3.

You are right about being careful with installing Playstation 3 Update 2.36. with it being a firmware update you can make you PS3 unusable if you don’t do it right. i have wiped a few game consoles in the past doing updates. I haven’t the same p[roblem with the PS3. I hope the Playstation 3 update 2.36 doesn’t give me any problems updating. It would be a bummer to blow away my PS3 trying to make it more stable.

Anyway thanks for the info on playstation 3 2.36 update. I had no idea it was out. I hope a few people let you know about the playstation 3 update 2.4. It will be interesting to see what the difference between playstation 3 update 2.36 and the Playstation update 2.4 will be.

If I had a PS3, I would install the Playstation 3 update 2.36 from Sony. Why not? What could happen? If the Playstation went dead, you would probably get a new one. I’ve played Guitar Hero on the Wii at a friend’s house but I prefer games like Halo and Socom. How often does Sony issue firmware upgrades? I’ve never seen that before, though I only have a playstation 2 and I never had to install the Playstation 3 update 2.36 on that system. My friend Matt just got the Playstation 3 and probably installed the Playstation 3 update 2.36 on his system already if it needed it. When the Playstation 3 update 2.4 comes out, he’ll install that too. How long does it take to install the Playstation 3 update 2.36 compared to the Playstation 3 update 2.4? If it is quick and painless, go for it. If it takes an hour then skip the Playstation 3 update 2.36.

was talking to a friend of mine on psn and apparently he was on ps blog and heard theres going to be a update either tonight or tomorrow night so i’d keep checking hopefully its not BS cause i seriously want in game xmb

I dont think sony is going to put an in-game XMB all it is….is just talk they been talking about it for like a year now and i getting tired of hearing about the it…ill believe it whe i see it

i think that the update actually fixed a littl bit of GTA’s problems….. mine used 2 freeze after about 10 minz, now i havnt had any problemz… just a headz up

I upgrade to 2.36 and now my GTA 4 won’t work. Can’t install it, can’t get past opening screen….worked fine last week….has to be 2.36

I found an issue with 2.36 that really sucks. I watched the first episode of Dexter on DVD, then noticed there was an update needed. When I updated and went to watch another episode, the DVD wouldn’t play any of the episodes on the disc. So…some DVDs are incompatible with 2.36.

If i have a ps3 updated to version 2.20 and then directly update to 2.40, does the new update contain all the updates in the update 2.36 and all the updates in between? Or do i have to install all the updates in the order of release??

Please could somebody answer my query?
